It is not just that conflicts of interests are rampant in the UK’s financial service sector, it is that we are now at a point where they seem to be an accepted part of everyday life. Only this morning it was revealed that Andrew Bailey failed to declare a conflict of interest over the RBS scandal. This would be farcical if it were not so serious.

When will the UK finally put a stop to the constant overlap of regulatory, financial and political interests? This does not conduce to effective regulation.
